The first acquisitions!

Now, I must admit I wasn't totally bereft of tradebait when I started this. I do have the following systems:

Fat PS2 w/ Free McBoot memory card - 1 controller
Slim PS2 w/ Free McBoot card - 1 controller
Dreamcast - 1 controller

PS2 game: NHL '09

but really, that's not much. Except for the dreamcast, those are also for trade. However from there, I was able to get two new acquisitions. Both are for trade:

Commodore 128 w/ powersupply and quik-trak joystick, and system disks (not pictured)

no disk drive, but it boots up and typing in basic seems to work. I'm more of an A8 and Amiga fan, so for now this is considered for trade.

Bought - Yard sale - $25

Nintendo Gamecube (black) with all cords, 2 official controllers, official microphone, white 1059 memory card and disc only copy of Harvest Moon: Magical Melody

I'm not much of a Gamecube fan so for now this too is for trade.

bought - Yard Sale - $25

Tally - $50 spent

For trade:

Fat PS2 w/ Free McBoot memory card - 1 controller
Slim PS2 w/ Free McBoot card - 1 controller
Commodore 128 w/ power supply, joystick and system disks
Gamecube bundle w/ mem card & disc only Harvest Moon Magical Melody

Want List:

NES system (and games if possible)
Sega Genesis (and games if possible)
Sega Saturn (and games if possible)
Super Nintendo (and games if... you get the idea)
Neo Geo Pocket Color system

While systems do not have to be complete, for Sega systems I would prefer having the complete or at the very least boxed copies of the games. Once I acquire the systems I can go to work making game want lists.

Now... we wait until May 11th to see what else I can magic up through YSTSFM means! Stay tuned!

The Rules!

So, with a new job, and less financial responsibilities I thought it would be nice to rebuild the gaming collection I once had. But... I like challenges so of course I decided to restict myself on how to do so.

Over the course of one year, I plan on seeing how good of a collection I can amass by spending money in three places: Yard Sales, Thrift Stores and Flea Markets. Thus, the YSTSM Challenge is on!

To keep this from being too hard on myself, I will trade with other collectors. But, if I want something I'll just have to hope I've found something that is trade worthy. It should be interesting and put a fun spin on hunting for classic gaming items in the wild.

This will run from May 4th 2013 to May 4th 2014. I will post with new purchases, as well as keep a page with a Wants/Have list should anyone follow this and want to trade.

So... my next post will show the first things I found as I concocted this plan on the 4th. From then on all trades or purchases through YSTSFM means will be put up here. See something you like? More often than not it will be for trade. I want to see just how much I can maximize a collection to from just these few means.

Game On!
